Review: The Phoenix Project

The Phoenix Project: A Novel About IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win by Gene Kim

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an outstanding book that all IT people should read. It gets across its messages in the form of a fictional story that touches on every major pain in any medium to large sized IT organization. It goes into detail on how to solve these problems utilizing systems such as Kanban workflow management, agile development, DevOps and a number of other industry best practices that many IT shops ignore. It was an engaging read that was both entertaining and informative. With all that said, this isn't just a book for IT people, people who work in a business role who interface with IT on a regular basis should read this book as well. The nuggets of knowledge gained from the book apply to all levels of the organization from CEO to network engineer or developer.
